How do I get my foot in the door with Broadcast Journalism?

career technical education

So I go to a Career and Technical Academy and I major in broadcast.

But I want to get into the real world and experience things first hand. I want to go to the actual news stations and watch the newscasts take place. I want to talk with people and see what kind of advice they can give me.

Basically, I just want to be able to take my education about something I’m really passionate about a step further and learn from another source.

But how do I even go about this?
I don’t have any connections whatsoever, so I don’t know what I can do?

I just want to “get my foot in the door”.

Any suggestions?

Your teacher at the academy will more than likely have some connections and you can use them as a reference. Also once you’re done with school or near the end you can get an internship with a company to get your foot in the door, most schools like that either require you to have an internship in your profession or they will be more than willing to help you get one.
