What Degree Path to take: BS in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or Teaching?

career technical education

I started my career in the Electronic field. With a 2 year degree in Electronics. I worked for a fortune 500 company for many years and worked my way into Process Engineering as a Technical Support Engineer without the BS Degree. Unfortunately the company moved a major section of its company to China. Now I am looking to either further my career in the same field but no luck finding a Job unless I have a BS Degree to back it up. With that I found that my 2 year college education is not usable because it is to old. These past couple weeks I have been working with a University and found I need to take the entire 4 year course to obtain a BS Degree. Now I am down to determining what it the best BS Degree to take in relation to seeking employment that will stay On-Shore (In the U.S.). I believe I have narrowed it down to Mech. Eng., Comp. Sci. or Teaching. Or may be even Civil, Structural Engineering.
Can any one give an outlook on jobs in the U.S. or suggested degree paths?

Probably the question you must ask YOURSELF is what kind of work would you enjoy for the rest of your working days. Job stability is certainly important, but a n important factor in job success is doing something that you enjoy doing, irrespective of salary, location etc. Remember you will normally spend 40-60 hours per week in a professional career. So choose the path that will provide you with satisfaction in your life.
